Madame Wob Dwiyet Canada: Igniting Scarborough with Dominican Heritage!
Scarborough came alive on Sunday, September 24th 2024 with vibrant energy and cultural pride as Madame Wob Dwiyet Canada Inc. hosted an unforgettable celebration of Dominican heritage, art, and tradition. The highly anticipated cultural show, co-hosted by Paula L., Kamil A., and Akua D., delivered an evening brimming with captivating performances, fierce competitions, and heartfelt tributes.
Celebrating Cultural Excellence
The event highlighted the Dominican community's rich traditions through its renowned Madame Wob Dwiyet competition, where contestants donned beautifully crafted traditional outfits, competing for top honors in two main categories: Jeune Madame and Madame Wob Dwiyet.
In the Jeune Madame category, Isalina Delsol claimed the prestigious first prize, sponsored by Delight Food Restaurant, with Lilly Aubrey and Nyasjah Joseph Bhagwandin taking the 1st and 2nd runner-up spots, respectively.
In the Madame Wob Dwiyet category, Audrica Aubrey was crowned the winner, also sponsored by Delight Food Restaurant. Ingrid Riviere earned the title of 1st runner-up.
The winners, Isalina and Audrica, were celebrated for their exceptional talent and creativity. Both took home awards for Best in Wob and Best in Creative/Talent, courtesy of sponsors like DJ Bobby, G-Money, Luke G., Dissect Program, and Jewel E. They were also honored with admission to the DSAA White Sunset Gala Charity Event in Dominica, set for October 23rd, 2024.
Beyond the competition, attendees were treated to an array of stellar performances that showcased the breadth of talent within the Dominican community. From Hermina G.'s soulful artistry to the rhythmic beats of Marlon the Percussionist, each act left the audience captivated. Dance performances by Creative Connection, Alyssa L., Vanessa D., and Joan F. added a dynamic flair to the evening, while Jennifer T., Deborah S., and Lorraine D.moved the crowd with powerful poetry.
The 2023 Ti Madams brought youthful energy to the stage, and the Nature Isle Sopranos stunned with their harmonious voices. The ladies of the competition were also serenaded by the smooth vocals of SL Levi L., leaving the audience in awe.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Special Cultural Award to Kanika A., whose contribution to preserving Dominican culture was recognized by the organization. Lorraine Delsol, a key figure behind the event, presented the award in a heartfelt ceremony.
